Emma Marjason selected for International Emergency Response Training Programme

Emma Marjason has recently been selected to take part in a specialist international response training programme, as one of 17 volunteers with Serve On.

The two-year programme prepares participants to respond to both UK and international emergencies, including flood and water rescues, resilience operations, and major incidents such as earthquakes and hurricanes. While still in training, Emma is able to support UK-based response efforts, with qualified teams. 

The role involves a significant commitment, with monthly weekend training sessions alongside additional volunteering and the need to be ready to respond at short notice. Training is primarily based at Serve On’s headquarters, known as Oasis in London, with additional sessions held at locations across the UK to practise specialist response techniques.

The programme is entirely voluntary, with each trainee taking on fundraising to support their place.

Each trainee is working to raise around £3,000 to cover the cost of the two-year training, contributing towards an overall fundraising target of approximately £102,000 for everyone taking part in the programme. 

Emma explained “I've always put myself in challenging situations and like to support others when they really need it”.
