Building Awards Win for Hounslow Small Sites Programme

We are thrilled to share that our Hounslow Small Sites Programme, delivered on behalf of Saphire Independent Housing, has won ‘Housing Project of the Year' in the Building Awards 2026!

It was a fantastic night celebrating with people from across the construction industry, and it’s great to see this innovative project recognised with such a prestigious award.

The judges said: 'This is a really good use of small sites and is sustainable, innovative and creates places of good quality for people to live in. Passive house and operational net zero set a high bar'.

The programme transformed six underused former garage sites across the London Borough of Hounslow into 36 high-quality affordable homes. The project demonstrates how small, challenging infill sites can be unlocked to provide much-needed housing while enhancing existing communities.

Designed to meet Passivhaus low-energy standards and achieve operational net zero carbon, the homes combine a fabric-first approach with technologies including air source heat pumps, MVHR systems and solar PV panels, helping to reduce energy use, lower bills and improve resident comfort.

A key innovation was the delivery model, which brought six dispersed sites together as a single programme, creating efficiencies in design, procurement and construction while maintaining a consistent design quality. The result is a scalable approach to affordable housing that delivers social value, biodiversity improvements and sustainable urban regeneration.

Well done to everyone involved in the delivery of this outstanding programme.
