The flexibility of mobile classrooms

For many schools, fluctuating pupil numbers and constrained budgets create a pressing need for additional teaching space. Mobile classrooms have become vital long-term assets.

Although modular classrooms are frequently installed for shorter‑term use, many remain in place for considerably longer. Their value becomes especially clear when they can be dismantled and relocated as requirements change. A six module block, for example, has already supported three different schools, providing much needed teaching space and acting as decant accommodation during major refurbishment works within schools.

While relocations typically involve groundworks, drainage considerations, and mechanical and electrical checks, many moves require further attention. Roof coverings, rainwater goods, and internal finishes often need additional protection or remedial work, particularly during wet weather relocations, even when temporary weatherproofing measures are in place. These factors highlight the importance of careful planning to ensure teaching space can be redeployed where needed and learning can continue without disruption.
